Making construction cost data usable
Construction cost data arrives in spreadsheets. Different layouts, descriptions and pricing versions make it difficult to compare consistently.
Through AISEA Enterprise, we built a system for a Malaysian property developer to turn those spreadsheets into structured, reviewable cost data.
From spreadsheets to a shared structure
The system imports bills of quantities—the documents listing construction work, quantities and prices—and organises their contents into consistent cost categories. It includes arithmetic checks and comparisons against source totals to help surface discrepancies.
The team reviews the processed data before accepting it into the workspace. The system records who approved it.
Working with the numbers
Once accepted, the data can be filtered, compared and queried. The team can examine cost drivers, compare dated pricing versions and ask questions in plain English, with references back to the underlying records.
Excel remains part of the workflow. The team can export structured workbooks for further analysis and review.
What we delivered
A workflow connecting spreadsheet ingestion, classification, validation, human approval and cost analysis. The team can move from individual files to a consistent view of its construction cost data.
